I'm a bit of a techie and have been preparing some things for the blog I intend to keep for my family members during the cruise. My family was asking, during the cruise, how will they find out:
- where we are now,
- what time it is where we are,
- what was the last port
- what is the next port and when?
I use the Garmin InReach (https://amzn.to/2vld49N) to track our position and let us exchange unlimited text messages ($65/month) with family from the middle of the ocean... but that doesn't tell them the time difference or when we are next in port and might have WiFi to Skype with them.
So, just for fun, I wrote a free app that runs "in the cloud" and works on any computer or smartphone or tablet. It shows where we are at this moment (right now it shows we are in Newport RI but it will update automatically as the ship moves) and shows the ship time and the last port and the next port on maps and how long we are in the ports. It also lets you pick a date in the future and see where we'll be on that date. You can try it out by clicking on this link - http://pathfinderassociatesinc.com/Cruise/Cruise.php
I wrote this for myself so no warranties on accuracy of information and no support provided... but feel free to pass this link along to your family & friends so they can find out where we are during the cruise!
