Chris Barlow is President of Pathfinder Associates, Inc. and a former Partner in McKinsey & Company’s Business Technology Office where he was a leader of McKinsey’s IT-enabled Operations Practice. Chris is a recognized expert on enterprise software and IT/operations transformations, a frequent speaker at industry conferences, and is contributing editor to two enterprise software development magazines. During his eight years at McKinsey, Chris’s experience included: ¶ Leading the end-to-end IT-enabled business model development for a major PC company ¶ Leading the development of an IT Strategy and 3 year IT Roadmap for a major aerospace company ¶ Driving an integrated cost reduction program at a consumer electronics company resulting in over $50 million in annual savings ¶ Implementing a sales and operating planning process at a major food processing company including redesign of supporting IT advanced planning and scheduling systems ¶ Assisting a major hospital network in a $200+ million project to select a vendor and implement a new clinical information system ¶ Developing an 5-year Business Technology Roadmap for an industrial company including application architecture, e.g., ERP, infrastructure, organization and governance ¶ Driving an integrated cost reduction program at a leading high tech company resulting in over $200 million in annual savings ¶ Assisting a major health care provider to develop a plan to restructure their distribution centers, call centers, and billing centers and supporting technology to support their new acquisition strategy ¶ Assisting a major computer manufacturer in implementing a build-to-configuration production model, including conversion of both business processes and implementation of new order processing and shop floor technology ¶ Developing market segmentation, value proposition, and sales force rollout strategy for the retail marketing group of a major distributor ¶ Developing a 3-year operations and technology profit improvement program and performance measurement system for a major distributor, which included implementation of ERP and SCM systems ¶ Marketing and sales strategy for a software company, including creating and implementing a value-based selling strategy ¶ Developing and implementing a strategy for a $15 billion company to leverage and capture value from their worldwide ERP investments while co-managing their SAP implementation ¶ Developing the product strategy for a dot-com start-up in the supply chain space ¶ Developing and implementing a re-engineered supply chain strategy for a computer manufacturer, including demand planning, electronic order acceptance, build-to-configuration manufacturing and supply chain management. Prior to McKinsey, Chris’s experience included: ¶ President of a software development and consulting firm that completed several major projects including a project to design and develop custom ERP software to perform all forecast-to-cash and purchase-to-pay processes ¶ Chief Technical Officer for a start-up with responsibility for development of state-of-the-art information systems that were recognized in the national press as placing the firm at the leading technological edge of the real estate industry ¶ Consultant and Account Manager for an ERP vendor responsible for sales and installation of ERP and supply chain management systems to Fortune 500 companies ¶ Director of Materials Management for a Fortune 500 company, responsible for inventory management, production planning, and traffic at 10 national plants and 12 warehouses. Chris earned a B.A. with distinction in Economics and Computer Science from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. |
